Acceptance and Courage

💜 Have you ever found yourself asking… “What now?”
I did. And it led me to a moment that changed everything.
My latest blog is about acceptance, courage, and taking that first step toward a life that feels alive again.

Life has a way of nudging us toward crossroads, moments when we must choose between acceptance or courage. Sometimes the choice is gentle, other times it shakes us awake. This is the story of one of those moments in my own life, and how it completely shifted the way I live today.
As I sat on my weekly Zoom call, pen racing across the page, the diffuser beside me filled the room with the grounding scent of Surrender. The topic that morning was simple: Acceptance or Courage.
At first, I was just writing to keep up, but when the mentor finished, I looked up from my notebook and something inside me shifted. I finally saw what I had been doing… and what I needed to do.
That Season of My Life
At the time, my children had grown and flown, living their own lives. My husband was happy heading off to work each day, and I was left with the echoing thought:
“What now?”
Sure, I had hobbies. I loved gardening, working on my online business, working with a small client base. But something was missing. Everything I did felt like I was grasping for a spark, for something that would truly light me up. Instead, I felt lost, invisible, and stuck.
Most nights I went to bed whispering to myself, “Please don’t let me wake up tomorrow.”
The Serenity Prayer
From the age of 12, while attending Al-Ateen, I learned a little verse that never left me:
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,Courage to change the things I can,And the wisdom to know the difference.

That morning, those words came rushing back.
Acceptance
I asked myself: What am I really accepting?
Feeling like a doormat
No friends
No fun or joy
Loneliness
I realised I had been accepting all of it , and it was suffocating me.
Courage
Courage whispered that morning: “It’s time.”
I needed the courage to make a change, not for anyone else, but for me.
So I did something bold. At 7:30 a.m., straight after the call, I pulled out my suitcase and started packing.
My husband, still half asleep, looked at me and asked, “What are you doing?”
“If I stop, I’ll never do this,” I kept saying to myself, with my heart racing. Then I looked at him and said:
“I’m leaving. Not leaving you, but leaving this life. Babe, you love your job, but I don’t love this. Sitting here waiting for you to retire is killing me. I need more.”
He nodded. He understood.
“Where will you go?” he asked.
“I don’t know… Karratha,” I blurted out. My children and grandchildren were there.
By 9:00 a.m., I was on the road, no plan, just faith. I even told myself I’d sleep in the car if I had to. Five hours later, when I arrived and broke down in tears, the relief was terrifying, but it was also the sweetest freedom I had ever tasted.
Wisdom
That first step was the hardest, but it set me free.
I finally understood:
We cannot change others.
We can only change ourselves.
Our life, our health, our beliefs, our story.
Today, I am no longer wallowing in life — I am flourishing in life.
My daughter always told me, “Follow your heart song.”And that’s what I am doing now.
Like a butterfly, I’ve learned that when my feet start to itch, it’s time for change. What I once thought was confusion, I now know is simply the call for courage.
A Question for You
Have you ever had to take that first step toward change? How did it feel? What did you do?
Wherever you are, whether it’s a season of acceptance or a season of courage — may you also find the wisdom to know the difference.

Creating new Space by letting Go...
Young Living’s Surrender Essential Oil is a gentle yet powerful blend designed to help us let go of resistance and control. It’s crafted with oils like Lavender, Roman Chamomile, Lemon, Black Spruce, and others that work synergistically to calm the mind, quiet inner struggles, and open the heart. When diffused, Surrender creates a soothing atmosphere that encourages emotional release, helping us move away from patterns of fear, anger, or holding on too tightly.
Energetically, Surrender supports us in releasing the need to “push” and instead trust the flow of life. It’s often used during times of change, meditation, or prayer to soften resistance and invite clarity. For me, it became a companion in that moment — reminding me that letting go is not giving up, but creating space for courage, wisdom, and new beginnings.
